The coast on which the cottage sits is designated as a Site of Special Scientific interest and is home to a wide range of local wildlife. (Spotted from the cottage have been seals, otters, badgers and Irish hares as well as a wide variety of sea birds).

The cottage is 3 miles from Portaferry where you can find shops, restaurants, take-aways and bars (including live Irish music at weekends).

Northern Ireland’s National Aquarium (Exploris) is in Portaferry, and the Strangford Ferry provides easy access to Downpatrick and the Mourne Mountains. Kirkistown race track is less than 6 miles away. There are also a number of golf courses nearby.

The cottage is ideal for windsurfing, kite-surfing, kayaking and fishing holidays or for artists.
