Outstanding luxury accommodation that will have you thinking you are waking up in a hotel. The only thing missing is room service! Breakfast can be had with unrestricted views over Newcastle Bay. The only problem you will have is trying to decide what to do next. Stay and enjoy or exercise your senses further?

As you open the door to this first floor apartment, you find the bedrooms to the left and straight ahead. As you turn to your right you pass by the bathroom before you enter the open plan sitting and dining area with the kitchen to the right in an open yet contained alcove. What hits you as you walk in are the large bay windows containing panoramic sea views. When you have managed to peel your eyes away you notice how tastefully and modern the decor is. There is a dining table with four chairs nestled under the panoramic views.

Unrestricted views

The contemporary lounge offers a spacious seating area with a stunning Victorian fireplace making an impressive focal point (not in use). The L-shaped leather sofa makes the perfect place to stretch out while you catch up on some holiday reading or watch digital television (freeview) or even put on a DVD in the integrated DVD player. The kitchen is fully fitted and has a small balcony which also offers panoramic views over the sea with an added bonus of some fantastic fresh sea air.

Both bedrooms are fully carpeted with a couple of steps down into one. There is ample storage for unpacking. Bedside lights provide extra ambience. The main bathroom with tile flooring includes a shower bath.

A couple of flights of stairs lead you into the Sip tearooms where you will have difficulty passing through without stopping for a nibble. The best solution is to order and then nip to the main desk to book your treatments. Again choice is your biggest dilemma: try the UK's only seaweed baths or a massage? Snooze is close to all amenities such as the Granite trail, Donard Park, a variety of mountain walks, Tollymore and Castlewellan forest parks, the Royal County Down Golf club, the award winning promenade, contemporary coffee houses, bars and boutique shops.

The historic Newcastle Harbour is on your doorstep here. In the 1820’s Lord Annesley created a new pier here primarily to function as a loading point for the famous Mourne granite, which was extracted from the overlooking hills. Blocks of this granite were used to build docks in Belfast and Liverpool, as well as help construct the Albert memorial in London.

My husband and I had a seaweed bath as a Christmas gift from our very good friends in Newcastle. I was a little unsure at the prospect because I envisaged the seaweed as being cold and slimy. I couldn't have been more wrong. The steam room was invigorating and the baths deep and comfortable. The seaweed was not at all slippery and it felt so wonderful to be cocooned, with restful music playing. This was an hour of luxury which we probably woudn't have treated ourselves to but we will be back in Newcastle in July and booking again will be a priority. The staff are lovely and explain everything clearly. The house at Christmas time was warm and inviting with a roaring log fire. Highly recommended.

The apartment is directly to your right, you can probably make out the Snooze logos, as you look. Click on the icon in the top right corner to view in full screen. (Escape will allow you to exit full screen mode). Hold the left button on your mouse and drag to view from different angles. To move along the road either click the arrows on the road or choose a spot further along the road and left click your mouse once to advance! (If you don't move your mouse far enough away you will see a magnifying glass in your circle, move a bit further and it disappears. Click and advance! If you find yourself activating the magnifying glass simply right click and zoom out.)

You will have noticed a small window to the bottom right with a little yellow man in the centre. What you are seeing in the main window is the view through his eyes. This window can be enlarged by clicking the arrow in the top left corner. Use the '+' and '-' to zoom in/out. You can also drag the yellow man to e.g. the nearest town and have a quick tour before you arrive! Of course the blue icon represents the location of the apartment.
