Dunnywater LodgeDunnywater Lodge is a unique period property that sits alone in private grounds at the end of a private drive. It literally perches 'where the mountains of mourne sweep down to the sea'.

The huge sash windows mean that the property is very well lit and can boast commanding views from all the front rooms.

At the back of the property there is a woodland walk that opens out onto the Mourne Mountains.

The front of the property enjoys an elevated view of the sea with only the sound of the birds, a cockeral and some nearby sheep for company.

Recently renovated, this characterful property (designed and built by the engineer who built the Silent Valley Resevoir at the turn of the last century) now offers all the comforts of modern living. There is an enclosed and semi covered yard with an eating area that is private to all but the song birds.

Dunnywater Lodge is close to Newcastle, Annalong, Castlewellan and Kilkeel.

There are forest and mountain walks straight from the premises and guests are also able to arrange golf, forest rambling, seasonal angling and cycling as part of their stay.

This spacious property will not disappoint. It is ideal for walkers, families, and all those wishing for a peaceful holiday in a stunning location.

kellyLittle piece of tranquility: review by kelly

Dunnywater was all we wanted and more from a much needed peaceful and relaxing break.

The house itself is gorgeous with such a homely feel to it, with the log burner going its hard to beat. The peace and quiet was amazing, with the views to match.

There are some beautiful walks and around the grounds and further afield for which our dog couldn't of been happier with.

All in all, we went away rested and with plans to return with friends and family, we definitely recommend Dunnywater to anyone.

A beautiful house set in peaceful surroundings great to relax and chill out. The back courtyard was great as the children could go out and play and you knew they would be safe.

Would book again sometime and could recommend it to others.

PaulCFamily with young children: review by rachaelc

This is a really great house to stay in, with relaxing and homely accommodation, really safe for kids to cycle and play in a vast area without any fear of traffic. Its a great location and there's fantastic mountain walks within 1km of the house.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome.

Its a real bargain when compared with other properties of a similar size. Would definitely recommend for family holidays.

PaulCBrilliant Holiday Home: review by paulc

Myself and my family stayed in Dunnywater Lodge over the Bank Holiday / Jubilee Weekend for the first time and had a great time.

The house is lovely - although quite old it has been thoroughly updated throughout with all mod cons (including Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV - which the kids loved). The kitchen is really big which was great for sitting in the evenings to relax in front of the Aga.

The owners of the property are great and could not have been more helpful. The location is superb - it literally sits right at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and it is on a private road so there is no traffic to worry about.

I could not recommend Dunnywater highly enough and cannot wait to return, have already booked another stay for August!!

Assistance:

The Lodge is through the gates as you look. You can actually see Dunnywater Lodge to the right of the gates. Right click on the building and select 'zoom in'. Click on the icon in the top right corner to view in full screen. (Escape will allow you to exit full screen mode). Hold the left button on your mouse and drag to view from different angles. To move along the main road either click the arrows on the road or choose a spot further along the road and left click your mouse once to advance! (If you are still zoomed on the property you may need to zoom out - use the right click button on your mouse to select).

You will have noticed a small window to the bottom right with a little yellow man in the centre. What you are seeing in the main window is the view through his eyes. This window can be enlarged by clicking the arrow in the top left corner. Use the '+' and '-' to zoom in/out. You can also drag the yellow man to e.g. the nearest town and have a quick tour before you arrive! Of course the blue icon represents the location of the Lodge.
