Magherally
cottage is a delightful traditional cottage
which has won acclaim in the Northern
Ireland Tourism Awards taking the Highly
Commended Award in 2007. It is not
difficult to see why. This 18th century
listed building has been sympathetically
restored retaining many original features
yet giving the modern holiday seeker all
their modern comforts.
From its early
days it stood as a small cottage with
outbuildings. These have all now been
integrated into one unit to form the ideal
holiday retreat. The restored traditional
thatched roof and cottage half door add to
its character. Other features include an
open fire, half loft and jamb wall.
Interesting features are the keeping holes
above the fire where salt and sugar would have been
stored in years gone by. The high ceiling
bog oak beams add to the ambience.
Magherally
cottage provides the perfect location to
relax and unwind in peaceful and tranquil
country surroundings. The immediate gardens
are well tended and the magnificent
county down countryside backdrop really
makes this a special place to get away from
it all, yet retaining easy access to many
facilities.
Magherally
cottage is very accessible to the major car
routes being only 5 minutes from the A1
carriage way. Dublin Airport is a one and
half hour drive, while Belfast City Airport
considerably closer. The outlet shopping
centre is a seven minute drive.
