Priest Bridge
cottage is one of 4 cottages in a terrace of
mill labourers dwellings. Originally the
terrace was built as six two room units with
one room upstairs and one room downstairs.
The original thick stone back wall of the
property can be seen in the living room.
The terrace
later became three dwellings as family
requirements became more demanding. However
the centre terrace was returned to it's
original twin dwelling some time later. With
extensive renovations and development the
property has been tastefully brought to 21st
Century requirements, and provides an
excellent base for a cosy rural retreat.
Inside the
accommodation is surprisingly large.
Immediately inside the cottage is the first
reception room, with large wood burning
stove, giving the cottage an immediate
homely appeal. An open plan living and
dining area with a fully fitted kitchen
boasts sunroom area opening onto the patio
area beyond, with BBQ and garden furniture
for alfresco dining providing alternative
areas for relaxation for all seasons.
On the edge of
Tollymore Forest Park and the Mourne
Mountains to the West, situated on the
Shimna River, this area is designated as “an
Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty” offers a
lot of scope for those enjoying the outdoor
life. The area is ideal for rambling,
climbing, angling, bird watching, golfing,
painting, photography, horse riding, cycling
or just relaxing with a book is also an
option for those wishing to relax. It is
also very accessible to the attractions of
Newcastle and the coast.
